Hello all
I'm using xfce 4.8 (it was a clean 4.8 install, i didnt update from 4.6) on gentoo and i've been running into some problems lately. When i startx (exec ck-launch-session startxfce4 in .xinirtc) for the first time
1- running Thunar for the first time takes 25 seconds to load - this happends only after a reboot, if i log out and log back in - it loads normally.
2- the Windows Button filter for "Show windows from all monitors" does not work. Its unchecked but i still get windows from all monitors on my panel. I have to either manually check and uncheck the filter to behave properly OR to log out and log back in
3- i cant restart or shut down as user, i can only log out, even though i've tried all the suggestions i could find on google and in the xfce4 faq
I remember experiencing the first 2 "bugs" on Arch Linux as well, with the old xfce 4.6 version, but i'm not sure
Any help would be appreciated

1: no idea, any high cpu usage? messages? Thunar daemon started on login? (thunar --daemon save session on logout).
2: works fine on my system. Created bug http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7180, maybe you can provide more information.
3: Permission issue on your system, setup consolekit or sudo.

Thanks for your reply Nick
i made a little vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZktzZjQlyas , dont know what other informations to post
Edit: adding xdm to the default run level and then switching to gdm fixed reboot, shutdown, and mounting permissions
Remains to be seen whats wrong with thunar, as for 2, i think its a bug but i couldnt find anyone else reporting it ..

1: messages?
yes!
Jan 30 07:23:55 gentoo kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 10
Jan 30 07:23:55 gentoo kernel: lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions
Jan 30 07:24:00 gentoo kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jan 30 07:24:05 gentoo kernel: eth0: no IPv6 routers present
Jan 30 07:24:12 gentoo kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Lack of a floppy causing thunar to load slow ? If yes, how do i fix it? fd0 is commented in fstab
Later edit: just noticed that thunar loads slow only when trying to read the home folder, if i open it from another place it loads fine. However, if its open and i try to browse the /home folder it takes ~25 seconds to read it.

Please don't use youtube as a bug tracker, but submit then on bugzilla.xfce.org.
