Hi!
I have little problem, with child windows (modal window) of applications, because the minimize button on their title bar doesn't exist. The main window of application have minimize button, but their child windows - doesn't. I have hope I can configure somehow...
Thanks for any help!
Best regards.

No you can't for a good reason, if the dialog is modal (that's how that's called in window manager land) it probably blocks functionality in the main application, so therefore you can only minimize the set.

No it is not good. I can not minimalize any child window, no matter what kind of it is modal or modless. I don't like to say it, in that way: but on GNOME or KDE I can minimalize this windows.
Best regards!

I doubt that and if so, they are wrong, the way most dialogs are show blocks the mainloop, making the application not respond until the modal child is closed.

Hi Nick Thanks for your help. It is sound sad, that I can't minimize those windows, I mainly work on MAYA 2011, and impossibility of minimalization this windows do not allow me to work conformable on MAYA, so I must back to gnome.
Proof for lack button

You can also use Xfce with metacity instead of xfwm4. However looking at the screenshots I think we were talking about something else, you can add the minimize button in the window manager settings (dnd the buttons in the first tab). If you right-click the window title and you should see minimize as well.

Strange I don't have minimize button on tabs in windows manager settings, either there are not button on title bar for minimize windows manager settings, strange, please take a look:
The icon with magnifier is only for maximize.
Where can I change the windows manager to metacity? I also add I must use compositor, because new MAYA have bug, that doesn't allow you work without Compiz.

The maximize action can minimize as well, not only hide does that.
