.xdg-volume-info files ?

As I said in my other post, I'm trying Xubuntu 11.04.
Using gnome, I had .xdg-volume-info files on my external disks and pendrives, and they were used by gnome to display custom icons...

For example
.xdg-volume-info :

[Volume Info]
IconFile=icon.png

It was really nice, but it seems xfce doesn't support it... It's a feature that will be implemented someday, or it's something gnome-only ?
also kde doesn't seem to have it :-(

Xfce will auto-support this if this is implemented in gio (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551403)

Re: .xdg-volume-info files ?

Sorry for resurrecting my old thread ...

I'd like to know if there are news on this...
I don't think so since gnome bug is still unconfirmed, and this is just a "cosmetic issue" ... But it was quite nice to see custom icon for drives :-)

Anyway... Other ideas on how to have custom drive icons ?

Thank you for your effort !
