I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and running Xfce 4.10 session. I installed Xfce 4.10 from the launchpad ppa (https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/xfce-4.10). My system is fully updated.
I'm having a problem with how System Load Indicator 0.2 (from the Ubuntu Software Center) displays in an Xfce session.
I find that as I progressively increase the number of parameters displayed, the area of each component shrinks. The rest of the Xfce panel is unaffected.
In contrast, when I run an Ubuntu (Unity 3D) session, there is no shrinking of areas.

Just tested this on my xubuntu 12.04/Xfce 4.10 (from git) and can confirm your issue. However, on my Xubuntu 11.10/Xfce 4.8, the indicator works as it should (the indicator-plugin width expands as required). Perhaps you should file a bug report at https://bugzilla.xfce.org/ and/or https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu (in case its specific to ubuntu - I don't have a non-*buntu/Xfce 4.10 system to test at the moment).

I just filed https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9040. Instead of repeating everything, I linked to this thread and another I had made @ ubuntuforums.org (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2003403).
