Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

Here's a screenshot:  http://i.imgur.com/pEjie0f.png

The red X in my notifications area of the panel has been bothering me for a while.  I'm using a colorized iconset of Aw0ken by alecive (deviantart it) but I've traced the icon to a missing image icon.  If I try and change iconsets, I get the equivalent missing image icon...so there's something that's being shown there, but there's no known icon for it I guess?  Is there anywhere I can look to see what all of the notification icons are supposed to be?  There are some times when I'm switching between battery and charging where the power manager icon will just not even be there.  It's very erratic.

The screenshot was taken while on battery power  There's a battery indicator and then a red X...I just don't know what it is.  if I right click on it, I get the popup menu for power manager, same as if I right clicked on the battery icon. Right now, I'm not running on battery and fully charged and I have just the red X but no battery indicator...if I unplug, the battery shows up but the X stays.

Is there a log somewhere I can look at to see what's trying to be drawn there?

I'm running XFCE4 on Arch Linux.  I posted this to their forums, but haven't gotten an answer. Thanks in advance!

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

Do you have 2 batteries in your system? Or, is your system somehow seeing two batteries?

What is the make/model of your system?

What does the following return:

upower --dump

Right now, I'm not running on battery and fully charged and I have just the red X but no battery indicator...if I unplug, the battery shows up but the X stays.

Settings Manager -> Power Manager -> General -> System tray Icon: Set this value to "When battery is present" or "Always show icon" to have it always display. If you right-click on the X, select Preferences, can you change this setting to "Never show icon" and does the X disappear?

Could the X represent mouse power perhaps?

I set it just now to Always show and now I have both the battery icon (charging) and the red X visible (both plugged and unplugged).

I right-clicked on the X and set it to never show and both the X and the battery icon went away, so they're tied together...

But, there's good news!  I unplugged the mouse's USB wireless connector and the X went away...so apparently it is the mouse power...so I guess I need to either find an icon for it or find a way to hide that device from the notifications area?  It would be cool to know the power of the mouse!

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

I believe that this bug report is relevant. From the bug report:

Recent upower version added batteries monitoring for wireless mouse.xfce4-power-manager isn't updated to handle this new feature. However, it enumerates these batteries as wellб since they appear to be exported by upower's dbus interface.
This is why that tray icon appears.

As to how to remove the icon, I wonder if there is some method/way in upower to mask or hide the mouse battery. I'll have a look.

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8188

Arch won't fix this unless the patch is merged upstream...I temporarily fixed it by creating symlinks from gpm-mouse-000.png to xfpm-mouse--000.png and so on for 020, 040, etc.

Edit:  Toz, you posted just as I was posting.

This thread looks interesting.

EDIT: Looks like you've got it figured out.

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

After making the symlinks as the "wrong" file names...I kinda like having the mouse power indicator.

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

I'm going to mark this as unsolved in the hopes of getting this pushed upstream.  Mods, correct me if that's wrong.
