Shortcut to open a second, custom, applications menu

I've created an applications menu and added it to the panel as described here http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=22079.

But I would like to assign a shortcut to open it and the xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu only opens the main applications menu.

Is it possible to do what I want?

Also, I don't really need that the menu resides in the panel. What I have in mind is something like openbox menus.
