Re: Screenshots - 2007

Hi all,

I just finished installing the latest XFCE on my Dell work laptop. I am very impressed. I was running Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) but I decided I needed a change and went to Open Suse 10.2. This is what I use as my primary workstation. Anyway, here is my screen shot. It's nothing fancy yet but I have all my work tools installed.

Thanks..

Okay, alan2.  Expect them in about a week.

Beryl

I would very much like to know how you have Beryl working on XFCE4. I have it working up to a point, but not useable.

I start it like so (found this from Googling):

beryl-manager &
emerald &
startxfce4

The result is that I get the basic Beryl effects, but no WM (no window titles) and Terminal is just a featureless white triangle. This is running it as a test user with a blank config, just so I'm sure that there are no conflicting configs, and the XFCE composite manager is not running.

I do not use a graphical login manager, and do not wish to if I can avoid it :-)

Thanks for any tips!

Re: Screenshots - 2007

Suppose I should post a screen, considering the topic...

Not much to see, mainly just working with Tovid, which is what I spend most of my time doing, as much a TV/movie junky as computer :-)

Theme is MurrinaBluegray (doesn't everybody use Murrina??), Candido (more Cimi themes...heh), Tango icons (getting more boring by the minute, eh?), but I do use a *wacky* ROX panel at the bottom with my favourite ROX apps, archive, edit, roxiso, roxdao.

Crazy shit, huh? ;-)

I think you might have to edit the xorg.conf.  I got the info from the wiki page.  I strongly suggest you look in your distro forum or wiki.  That is the best way to get help.  Good luck!  smile

I hate hair :-x! It's to hard to draw, I wish everyone would do a Brittany Spears.</rant>

I was thinking of making this theme in to a gtk engine but it's to much work and
I don't have the time sad . So I'm goin' to finish the xfwm theme and put the pixmap on
xfce-look.

All I needed was that tip about the xorg.conf, mate! Thanks! Now I've got all of the beautiful Beryl effects I wanted, scale/expose, the enhanced app switcher, and some real sweet eye candy thrown in for effect :-)

Now just to come up with a screen of all this...

It is called areao4.2 by heylove http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/455 … n%3Ascraps.  You will have to convert them from ico to png and then copy them to any icon themes you have.

Re: Screenshots - 2007

depend onthe distro. and if there a pkg. You can always compile it:

svn co svn://svn.gnome.org/svn/gtk-engines/trunk ./gtk-engines
cd ./gtk-engines
./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --enable-animation
make
make install

or replace /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libclearlooks.so with apre-compiled lib should work but make a back up.

options look like this:

  engine "clearlooks" {
    scrollbar_color   =  "#F7962D"
    menubarstyle      = 1          # 0 = flat, 1 = sunken, 2 = flat gradient
    style             = CLASSIC    # GLOSSY INVERTED
    radius            = 0.0        # round-ness
    animation         = TRUE
  }
