How to put clock at the far right of the panel in 4.10?

In Xfce 4.8 the workspace switcher, notification area and clock were at the far right of the panel, but in 4.10 they are always at the right of the window switcher so when there are few windows open there is a huge black space at the right of the panel. Here's a screenshot showing the issue:

How do I put the workspace switcher, notification area and clock at the far right of the panel in 4.10?

Put a separator in between and set it to expand in the properties.

Re: How to put clock at the far right of the panel in 4.10?

Yes, thanks. I was not aware that the Separator had that ability. I just tried it by adding it, setting it to expand, and then adding another applet after it - the added applet ended up all the way to the right. And it looks like one of the forms that the separator can take is "transparent," so it could presumably be hidden.

Is there any way to use the Separator and set - either through grabbing with the mouse cursor and adjusting or through setting a variable in a configuration file - the "expanded size" to be something different (less) than "all of the space that it can get?" So that someone could, for example, use it to the left of a single applet on an otherwise blank panel and have that applet be centered on that panel instead of on the right side (or the left side if the Separator is not used)?

Thanks again,
MDM

You can set the panel width as a percentage in panel preferences. Setting it to about 50% should give what you want.

Re: How to put clock at the far right of the panel in 4.10?

In my previous install, I had an applet centered in a panel putting a separator expanded on each side, and the applet was auto-centered. Really simple and nice!

I use the exact same technique.
I use it to have an auto-hide panel at the bottom with my apps shortcuts centered (dock-like).
Works great.
