first I will have to admit that I am a complete beginner with all Linux related stuff. I installed Xubuntu and I am trying to get used to the terminal.
Here are the versions:
Distribution: Ubuntu 12.10
Console-Thing: Xfce Terminal 0.4.8
I got this issue with perldoc.
If I scroll through a page of perldoc and get to the end I can't close it.
There is (END) highlighted but I can't type anything. No obvious (and no not so obvious) key combination did work. I tried END, all Fx's, in combination with alt, shift and strg. Nothing seems to work. To get back to the "normal" terminal - or more precisely - to be able to type something again I have to close the Terminal and re-open.
I found this page: file:///usr/share/doc/xfce4-terminal/C/faq.html#id411466
But sadly the link to the patch is dead. I could not find the file through google.
And this thread: http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=4678
Which is not solved.
I searched a lot, on other sites too, but I could not find anything. (Which may also be related to my lack of experience...)
If you can help me, please post

The 'q' key works for me.
As ToZ said try "q". It took me ages to figure that out. I couldn't get out of man pages and similar things.
Oh my... that's embarrasing. Thanks for your help!
I thought I facerolled the whole keyboard... seems I missed Q ...
Either that, or you failed to look at the bottom of the terminal where you're told to use q to quit. Learning to RTFM is good, but reading all of what's on the screen is even better.
Permanently recovered BOFH
Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.
