XFCE is having a problem signing out to both LightDM and SDDM

Hello again,

Recently, with my install of Arch, XFCE has not been logging out correctly back to my display manager, whether that be LightDM or SDDM. (I have tried both) Whenever I press the logout button, with the attached command being "xfce4-session-logout --logout --fast" according to whisker menu settings, I encounter a black screen for a few seconds. The computer will then continuously keep restarting until I hold the power button to power off, and turn the computer back on from power off. I have also gotten KDE as a secondary DE and it is not facing the same issues with logging out to SDDM as far as I have tested, leading me to believe the problem lies with XFCE.

The first step would be to see what the logs say. journalctl and in the case of lightdm, there are log files in /var/log/lightdm as well.

Something interesting I've encountered shows that when I switch to a different tty and then back to tty1, SDDM is back and working, presumably only after the computer has restarted.

In the journalctl output, there seems to be heaps of errors like this:

Dec 20 09:50:11 hondamax200 sddm-greeter[1100]: file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/components/ActionButton.qml:102: TypeError: Cannot read property 'smallSpacing' of null

However, these are SDDM related, and the same thing was happening with LightDM.

Could this have something to do with it?

I'm sorry but I'm unfamiliar with sddm. Can you try again with lightdm and then post back the contents of the x-0.log, lightdm.log. and seat0-greeter.log files from the /var/log/lightdm directory?
