[solved] icon theme not working

hello there,

trying to get this icon theme to work. it's a clone of win11 icons. i cant get the icons to look like they should. what am i missing? i installed the icon pack to /usr/share/icons

what icons should like like:

icons in thunar. they kind of look right. just not color. i am using adwaita-dark theme. i tried adwaita theme too but no change

Your thunar is running as root. How are you starting the root instance?

Do the icons work properly if you run thunar with your regular profile (not root)?

i login as root from the DM

and the icons do work if i login as the regular user. why would that be? some errant gtk settings profile maybe?

Hmmm. Setting aside the whole logging in as root thing (maybe its somehow preventing it from working), it should work. When you are logged in as root, can you post back:

ps -ef | grep -i thunar
ps -ef | grep xfconf
ls /root/.config/gtk-3.0

Also, which distro and version of Xfce are you running?

i'm using arch. xfce version 4.18

EDIT: just loaded pcmanfm and icons work there. i guess something in thunar settings?

well looks like i stumbled on a fix.

if i zoom in the icons display properly. seems like every icon size except 24px size renders properly
