Xfce Terminal tab session id

I'm trying to get Xfce Terminal to use a different Bash history file for each tab, which should be restored when the program is restarted during Xfce session restore. I notice that the tab title string can include '%#' which expands to a session id that is unique for each tab. Perfect! But how can I access it? Can't find anything in the documentation; tried qdbus but didn't get anywhere with that. Grateful for any suggestions.
