Hi there,
I am in trouble trying to control which apps gets started after login.
Sometimes my "session" gets saved, sometimes it does not.
What I would like to achieve is disable "dynamic" session saving completely and manage my session through some config I have to edit by hand. No matter which programs I leave open when shutting down the PC.
Then have XFCE:
1. Start its own required/default daemons and tools
2. Start the programs from the list I've manually configured, placing them in the virtual desktop I've manually chosen.
I've been trying googling for a while, but I couldn't find a solution. Is this doable?
Thank you

Check out this Arch Wiki article for methods on disabling session saving. (I've never tried to disable session saving so I can't comment on whether they work or not)

To auto start, go to the settings manager --> session & startup --> application autostart.

you can completely disable the session saving in kiosk mode https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/kiosk_mode
eg put
[xfce4-session]
SaveSession=NONE
to your kioskrc
