desktop blocked

Hello,
First sorry for my bad english but I try to explain the trouble. I have a OS Voyager X8 debian with the desktop xfce 4.12 . I think on this new OS installed yesterday afternoon, usually I put my own pictures(6) in the backdrops total +/- 200 of desktop without trouble. But today I have a big trouble the desktop stay blocked impossible to close him just he close himself after few minute, he said "xfdesktop-settings" stay here but would you close him" OK , I do that ! ! Can you tell me how it's possible for the desktop on my OS return to good function for open/close/ choice of the screen picture? today I try in terminal an order for kill xfdesktop with the PID N° 2724 example it is, but this command are a not good for return the desktop in is good function ? ?
It's Ok for you to communicate to me the right job for do it a good correction ? many thanks for your help . I hope it's possible to some one to understand my own trouble, many thanks again 8-)

unfortunately  the OS is crashed,  I may be to do renew it
