XFCE4.12.0 installed, a horizontal Panel at the bottom, Whiskermenu is at the bottom left corner.
However, when opened, categories are at the right, and items open to the left and I find this very backward.
categories should be on the left and items should open towards the right.
I placed another applet into the panel, called "Applications Menu", and this one open normally, left to right.
However, Whiskermenu is much nicer looking, prefer to use it rather then "Applications Menu"
is there any way to reverse items openings in Whiskermenu?
Thanks!

Right-click the Whisker icon > Properties > Behavior tab: check "Position categories..."
Since you are already posting on the MX-15 Forum, you could have just asked there...

thanks, that did the trick
did not know that MX and XFCE forum are related somehow
this issue was generally only XFCE specific (not distro specific)

Glad that worked for you.

They're not except through my presence on both--and Xfce itself of course.

Not really: the configuration you did not like is a distro-specific choice.
