I notice the weather plugin in XFCE 4.12 has the following message:
Met.no sunrise API states that this version of the webservice
is deprecated, and the plugin needs to be adapted to use
a newer version, or it will stop working within a few months.
Please file a bug on https://bugzilla.xfce.org if no one
else has done so yet.
I will also note at https://bugzilla.xfce.org if not already done.

There's a number of bug reports already created. I submitted a patch on this one.

If memory serves, the developer of xfce4-weather-plugin has made changes in the past that dealt with such issues (albeit at a pace that did not suit everyone, lol). I have no reason to doubt that the same will occur this time. If you wish to search this forum - perhaps by way of a search engine's "site:" search via adding
site:https://forum.xfce.org
(sans quotation marks) to your search term(s), you will find a thread or two that discusses the (general) subject. IIRC, I found an alternative weather app the last time (or the time before that?) there was a service interruption, and I believe that I might have gotten my xfce4-weather-plugin to function when I did (maybe something changed/upgraded when I installed it or... coincidence? I do not remember), and others may have added tips and listed what worked for them.
As always, ToZ, my thanks for being helpful and "on the ball." I don't know what this forum - and we Xfce users - would do without you!
Regards,
MDM
