Copy text in xfce4-terminal via mouse

In the Usage help for xfce4-terminal, the section with heading "To work with the contents of terminal windows" states that:

For all text selections, Terminal copies the selected text into the clipboard when you release the mouse button.

I'm using version 0.6.3 on Xubuntu 14.04.4 and doesn't seem to be the case out of the box.  Is there a place to enable this functionality via ${XDG_CONFIG_HOME}/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc?  I can't find any other reference to it in the help and there doesn't seem to be any existing forum posts or search results that remotely addresses this.

I only get copy to work in 0.6.2 by highlighting what I want and then right-clicking > copy.

MX-23 (based on Debian Stable) with our flagship Xfce 4.18.

Yes, that definitely works.  I can also copy using <ctrl><insert> or <shift><ctrl><c>.  But I would be nice to populate the clipboard automatically upon making a selection, if that's actually possible.
