Problem with hibernate

I have a problem with hibernate on notebook Thinkpad R61i with Xfce4 (laptop-mode-tools, pm-utils): when i run pm-hibernate or use hardware buttons everything works good, but when I press Menu -> Exit -> Hibernate (Suspend to disk, I don't know actual menu name, my system language is not English) just after wake up system going to hibernate again. So I have to power up twice. What could be a problem?

Which distro and which version of Xfce are you running? Is the "Menu" an Xfce plugin or application?

Hi, thank you for answer. Distro is Gentoo x64, menu is xfce4-panel application menu. I'm sorry, menu item is actually 'Log Out' (as in the screenshot below).

Does gentoo ship with and/or are you using systemd?

Does the command:

xfce4-session-logout -s

...also result in a double-suspend?

No, gentoo uses OpenRC by default (so do I).

No,

xfce4-session-logout -s

works fine, but

xfce4-session-logout--hibernate

do.

"xfce4-session-logout -s": work fine.
"xfce4-session-logout --hibernate": double suspend (same as LogOut -> Hibernate).

What happens if you run:

pm-hibernate

...this would rule out Xfce altogether.

Also double-check your laptop-mode-tools configuration and/or disable it completely to rule it out.

pm-hibernate works fine.
I removed laptop-mode-tools, but nothing has changed.
I also reinstalled xfce4-power-manager and xfce4-panel, but nothing has changed too.

Given that "pm-hibernate" works fine and the built-in "xfce4-session-logout --hibernate" does not, you may have found a bug. Unfortunately, I can't test hibernate on my system and am unable to confirm this for you.

Have been able to get independent confirmation from another gentoo Xfce user (maybe via the gentoo forums) that this problem exists with other users? If so, it might then be best to create a bug report against xfce4-session to see what the developer says.

On fresh desktop install everything works perfectly. That means problem is in laptop configuration, but how to know what causes such behaviour?

Since this is not an issue with Xfce, perhaps posting your issue and setup information at the gentoo forums will get you more gentoo-specific assistance in locating the issue.
