wmName freezes xfce-panel

Hello,

I am using xfce together with xmonad. The xfce panel works fine until I run "wmname LG3D" in order to be able to run Java applications. All widgets freeze and the workspaces cannot be switched from the panel. Does someone know what might cause this behavior and how can I fix it?
