The wheel of my mouse malfunctions, sometimes it scrolls too fast, I can't scroll content smoothly, it jumps. So I use my keyboard instead. But this wheel is clickable, so sometimes I use it. But in such cases there is always risk that I can unintentionally move this goddamned wheel and it will cause page jump drastically up or down.
So I wonder if there is a way that I could disable wheel scrolling without losing ability to use the wheel as a button?
I'm considering of buying a new mouse (by the way, this is a new mouse too. Ironically, I bought this one in order to replace my old mouse with exactly the same problem.), so it will be, probably, just a temporary workaround.

Have a look at this thread for one method of disabling the scroll.

I solved my problem by creating ~/.Xmodmap file that contains string "pointer = 1 2 3 0 0"
This is based on following sources: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xmodmap, https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … 0595#20595
