XFCE Not Loading

Hi,

I've just finished a fresh install of Linux Mint 18 and XFCE4. However, when I run XFCE after selecting it from the login window I only get a blank screen with the mouse cursor.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Also, I've tried deleting the ./config/xfce4/ folder, but that didn't work either (in fact, there was no .config/xfce4/ folder after intalling, and creating an empty folder for it didn't work either).

Where should I go from here?

EDIT: I installed xfce4-terminal and thunar before installing xfce4. Could this have caused the problem?
