"Switch application" in reverse

I really like the "Switch application" action, but unfortunately it has no "Reverse" action (similar to <Alt><Shift>Tab, which does "Cycle windows" in reverse).

Is it possible to simulate the 'Switch application' Action in reverse?

Basically, I'm looking for a "pure" way to cycle through windows in both directions, without popping up the switcher dialog (which is what Alt-Tab) does. I really miss that feature from FVWM.

Thanks!

Re: "Switch application" in reverse

Hello and welcome.

I had a quick look through the xfwm4 code and it only currently supports the one direction for SwitchApp. I also had a look to see if you might be able to use tools such xdotool and/or wmctrl to accomplish what you are asking for, but unfortunately, neither tool keeps a stack of windows (i.e. which window is next and which window is previous).

You could put in an enhancement request to see if the developer will consider it. If so, create a request through https://bugzilla.xfce.org/ for the xfwm4 product.
