Can't scroll one screen at a time

I just installed Linux Lite 3.2 on an old Lenovo S10 netbook. The display has a 585px height, and LL's minimum suggested is 768, but it seems to be working fine (except the LibreOffice GUI is truncated, but I don't think that's relevant).

The problem I'm having is that clicking anywhere in the scrollbars bring the shuttle not down (or up) one screen, as I believe it should, but it brings the document to the point of the click. So I can be at the top of a document, click at the bottom of the scrollbar, and be taken directly to the bottom of the document.

This happens in LibreOffice and Firefox, and it makes using the touchpad very difficult.

Is there an easy solution?

Instead of using the mouse, try using PgDn and PgUp. Also, Home takes you to the top and End goes to the bottom. HTH, HAND.

Thanks, but that's not a solution. The PgUp/Dwn keys are not that accessible on the small keyboard, and require a shift key. Besides, it's a complete change from using one of the central inputs of the machine, the touchpad.

hm use a theme with wit arrows on scrollbars, it should also be possible to scroll with the arrow keys(at least on firefox this is possible in accessibility settings ), enable two finger/circular scrolling

also regular apps usually dont work well with that height(eg the most settings dialogs will be unusable - since they cant be resized) so you could have a look at chrome/android(ARC Welder)/web apps.

Thanks. These are all good ideas. They don't substitute exactly for a workable scroll bar, but they are close.

The arrow keys and incremental scroll button are good, but not substitutes for the full screen scroll.

The touchpad in linux unfortunately doesn't have most of the extra functions such as chiral or two-finger scrolling. But this one does have edge scrolling, which is very handy. It's a little too fast though, and not adjustable.

On the good side, I switched the unit over to the chromium browser for video playback reasons, and find that it does scroll by screen properly. If LibreOffice did so my problem would be solved.

Actually, the two-finger scroll was hiding in the settings, and works very nicely.
