Moving panel configuration between systems

I've looked at various responses from Google (posted on this forum and on stackoverflow/superuser) and the consensus (at least at the time when the responses where written) was that copying over the ~/.config/xfce4 folder should be enough.

After trying a countless amount of times in a VM that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. (if you're wondering I've also rebooted after copying the files, and also tried with xfce4-panel -r, with no effect)

Is anyone aware of how I might do what I want?

Or is the only option to use xfconf-query to drop everything and rebuild the panel from scratch using that command?

Re: Moving panel configuration between systems

If you're looking to backup and restore xfce4-panel configurations, xfpanel-switch can do this for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's unfortunate it doesn't have a cli interface also, but that's fine for now.
