I'm having an odd problem lately that I haven't been able to solve.
When I fire up either chromium or chrome the browser tab fonts are not rendered well. Everywhere else I have the fonts the way I need them. I wish I could show you a picture. This has nothing to do with the fonts in the web page. That's fine. I'm talking about the fonts in the tabs. This is not a problem inside FF.
I tried all kinds of settings, but this one has had me for a few days now.

If I set the theme in Chrome to GTK it uses the font set in Settings - Appearance. Needs a restart of Chrome to take affect. If that doesn't work it may be an extension that is controlling the tabs.

Thanks ozjd. Tried what you suggested just now. I've got the Chrome theme to GTK+ and restarted.
It isn't affecting the problem. These are the fonts that are used in the Chrome menu, too. Like when you click on the upper right corner of the Chrome screen to get the menu, and it pops down? All those fonts in there have the same weird look. They are unevenly spaced.

Did you recently update freetype2? https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/is … ?id=649362

To be clear this is not a chrome windows background issue and changing themes seems to have no effect on my issue. My difficulty are the text in the tabs (above the URL) and the pull-down menu inside chrome/chromium. Those are the fonts I'm struggling with.

I marked this thread as solved because I merely switched distros from SolydXK to Manjaro and I'm no longer having the issue above. That being said, I'd still like to know how to adjust those fonts.
