I'm not sure which xfce version I'm using. I'm running Linux Mint 18 xfce edition. I did some google searches and I didn't find that information. Perhaps if I looked longer I could find it. Did find my Thunar version in the Thunar Help. I'm running Thunar 1.6.10.
For some reason when I Click on a file name and hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys and then click on the last file in the list, only the last file gets selected. In other words. The first file and the last file remain selected. It should select everything in between. The Ctrl+A is working.
How can I fix this?

I've always used only Shift, not Ctrl+Shift. When I select the first file, then hold down Shift and click on the last file, everything in between gets selected.

I would like to see an answer to this too, Ctrl-Shift and left mouse click doesnt select a range for me either.
I always use this in combination with ctrl-clicking to select infdividual files, then ctrl+shift+click to select a range within the folder while still keeping the ctrl-clicked files. I'm very surprised that this is an issue.
I'm running Arch with Thunar and XFCE.

As far as I can tell It is the same problem as described here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=762398 (look at those nice attached gifs)
It is a GTK+ bug and I recommend you comment there and let it be known that this issue is still present and you are affected.
