Hello,
I'm not too sure if I'm posting this in the correct place but I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this issue.
The empty item displays for any search query. I've tried to search this issue, but either it doesn't happen often (or at all) or I'm searching the wrong key words.
If anyone can help me towards the right direction that would be awesome!

Hello and welcome.
That is the whiskermenu that you are using. If you add the Applications Menu panel plugin to the panel, does it also display a blank entry like that one somewhere in the menu?
What local application desktop files do you have?
ls ~/.local/share/applications
Perhaps one of those files has an empty Name and/or Command entry and is invalid.

Thank you for the reply!
I've added the Applications Menu panel plugin but there are no blank entries.
As for local application desktop files, I do not have the applications directory.

It's strange, when I use Application Finder the issue does not occur. And Application Finder and whiskermenu seem nearly identical in feature and appearance.

Which distro are you using and Which version of Whiskermenu? Perhaps it's a bug with the whiskermenu plugin?

I am running Xubuntu 16.04.2 LTS with Whiskermenu 1.5.1-1.
I looked at the Whiskermenu bug reports and it seems like it hasn't shown up there.
I'm going to create a bootable usb and try running it on my desktop and see if it occurs there.
