DBus connection problems with panel plugin

Hello all,

I've recently been working on a Panel-plugin for xfce and all is going well but for a problem I am having with connecting to a separate application (specifically Plank) via a DBus client class that the developers at Plank have kindly written. If I run the Client in a separate application then all connects fine, but when turned into a panel plugin library it can't connect.

Apologies if my question is a bit vague, was just wondering if anyone knew of any differences with regards to DBus there would be when running as a plugin.
