no application added in notification area in panel

Today i have installed xfce4 on top of Raspibian pixel.
Everything is working perfectly and i am very pleased with
having xfce4.
However there is a notification area as item in panel.
But its empty.
I suppose it would have volume control and wifi management
among others.
I need help in getting a proper notification area.
Do i need to add items manually.
I really wish someone would help me out.

Thanks in advance

Re: no application added in notification area in panel

The notification area would hold systray items. For network management, that is usually nm-applet (if you are using the netwrok manager). Make sure it's installed. Which network manager/applet are you uging?

As for the volime control, Xfce has two: the older Audio Mixer plugin and the newer Pulseaudio plugin. Both sit on the panel and not on the notification area. Which volume control are you using?
