... but I have a second question concerning operation of a 2nd monitor.
Have at the moment two virtual desktops on my monitor #1.
Monitor #2, when connected, also shows two virtual desktops.
Is that a must, or can monitor #1 have 2 virtual desktops and #2 only have 1 virtual desktop?

Also, scrolling the mouse wheel on monitor #1 changes the virtual desktop on both monitors.
Can that be adjusted, so only the virtual desktop changes on monitor #1 only?

Unfortunately no. However, you can "pin" windows to the second monitor so they display on all workspaces giving the illusion that it's not changing.

Thank you for your reply, ToZ.
So, using different virtual desktops AND two monitors really does not make sense....
No possibility to say "monitor #1 virtual desktops active, monitor #2 virtual desktops NOT active".
But I'll try your proposal, have same background on 2nd monitor and pin "windows" and have a look.
