Binding super key without breaking super + bindings

I want to bind the super key to opening xfce4-appfinder.

But if I do that, I'm opening xfce4-appfinder everytime I want to use another keybinding with super in it like, for example, super + e to open thunar.

Alternatively, I tried doing it through sxhkd, but the same problem occurs. I tried:

@Super_L
 xfce4-appfinder --collapsed

But then if I'm doing another super + something command, appfinder pops up after rather than before.

Is there a way around this?

Hello and welcome.

Have a read through this related thread. It discusses the existing issue and offers a workaround using ksuperkey.
