Does XFCE have any file indexer?

Hello all,

Are there any similar applications which fill the same role as KDE's Baloo? I need to search some stash of files according to their contents. Catfish only searches files according to their names, and this doesn't completely meet my needs.

Thanks in advance,

Hakan

Re: Does XFCE have any file indexer?

Catfish serves most of my needs, but when it doesn't I use gnome-search-tool which also searches contents. Don't know how it compares to Baloo...

I've found an application called Recoll. It has a QT UI, but it's a standalone full-text indexer and search tool. It's pretty fast too.

Yeah I've read that's supposed to be good, but never tried it.

Recoll is really great, and well maintained!

Make sure to check the docs & howtos at https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/
