indicator plugin: how to move menu above panel?

When I single-click and release on an item in the indicator plugin, a line from the popup menu is selected.  Often this is "quit" which I find incredibly annoying.  I have to click-and-hold, which is awkward.

Is there a way to make the menu pop up above the indicator so I can make my selection after I single-click (like every other context menu?)

The indicator system has always been conceptually annoying, driven by Aspberger's level of OCD, but this is unworkable.

I love XFCE!  Don't take this as animosity, just frustration with what I think people call 'papercuts'.

Aloha.

Try putting the indicator plugin in a panel on top.
