customary newbie questions

Just installed xfce and trying to set it up to my liking:

1. found no built-in GUI tool to set up advanced keyboard options (setxkbmap -option) like the ones available in KDE or gnome. Running setxkbmap from an autostart script is the only way to do it?

2. found no tool for colour customisation - just some themes, most of which - all themes with xfce in the name actually, change absolutely nothing. Am I supposed to edit theme files manually?

3. Qt (KDE) applications ignore theme colours and use something else, how can I make Qt applications use the same colours as GTK? Or at least modify them?

Re: customary newbie questions

I can't answer #1.

2. You may use gtk-theme-config. Look at https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=11947

3. Use qt5ct and/or qt4-config. More info in this thread: https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=11472

Re: customary newbie questions

1 Are you looking to remap keys? If so, can't help, in fact I'd like an easy way to program my numeric keypad. If you're looking for a better key map, what are you needing?

Re: customary newbie questions

alcornoqui, thank you.

Javarod, don't know about easy, but editing keyboard layout files in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols, deleting compiled keymaps /var/lib/xkb/*.xkm and rebooting to rebuild them always helped me. As for me, I am looking for pretty standard stuff - scrolllock led indicating keyboard layout and microsoft numpad (shift-numpad keys extend selection instead of printing digits)

Re: customary newbie questions

OP, does this help on the numpad stuff? https://askubuntu.com/questions/57079/x … ke-windows

Also, do you have the xfce4-xkb-plugin in your panel?

Wouldn't those apps just work? Other Gnome/KDE apps run fine in my Xubuntu 16.04 install.
