How can I add files to the panel?

I'd like to be able to launch minecraft.jar from the side panel, but there is no option to add a file to the panel? how could I do this?

I don't know what you mean by "side panel". If you mean "side pane" of Thunar look at:

but I don't think it's possible to put file shortcut in the side pane (only folders shortcuts).
If you mean "panel" that is easy enough:
-> new launcher -> add a new empty item -> name, command, ev.icon

Then it's the second option: add new launcher to your panel.
