How to activate type-ahead search/selection in the desktop?

Hello,

I am using Xubuntu 18.04 and I was wondering if it is possible to activate type-ahead search in the desktop? In other words, when you start typing, the first match is selected while a little rectangular box containing the text is appeared on the right bottom of the screen (similar to Thunar and Nemo file managers). This feature is very helpful. With Ubuntu 18.04, I could easily stop Nautilus from handling the desktop and make Nemo as the application that handles the Desktop as a folder (see the following link). However, I don't know how to do it in Xubuntu 18.04 while keeping the desktop background. I appreciate your help with this.
