Hi All,
I Xfce dead?
4.13 is terrible on Fedora 29.
Libre Office 6 Calc "blinks" at me every two second, until I activate a cell. Inkscape won't allow me to resize a windowed window until
I double click on the title bar at the top. And the mailing list is dead.
I opened the following bugs and the bug folks have been suspiciously quiet.
launcher panels no longer scale

xfce4-about 4.13 thinks it is 4.12

I hate to see Xfce go away. I really like it.

First of all, thank you for reporting the bugs. 4.13 is a development version and bugs are to be expected.
Secondly, please be patient. Fixing them takes time - unless you also provide a patch - which expedites the fix.
If you want a stable experience, use 4.12.
4.13 is terrible on Fedora 29.
Try other distros as well (Xubuntu 18.10, Manjaro, for example)
xfce4-about 4.13 thinks it is 4.12
It will be updated when the official 4.14 is released.
xfce4-about 4.13 is missing from settings
The fedora packager forgot to compile it in. Most components support the "-V" parameter to show version.

Looks up to me: https://mail.xfce.org/mailman/listinfo/

Try the greybird theme. It is keeping pace with Xfce Gtk3 changes. The other themes need to catch up.

Works for me. Tested on Manjaro.
Xfce is not dead. 4.12 is very stable. 4.14 progress is slow and steady. Expect bugs with any development releases (4.13).

Whilst we wait, I need to use Xfce. What is the official way to downgrade to 4.12 on Fedora?

We have some fedora users here - perhaps the will reply. Otherwise, the fedora forums may be able to advise.

I haven't seen anything arrive on the mailing list for a couple of weeks now. And krusader and Libre Office decided to show up again on panel 0's task bar.
I am glad Xfce is not dead. For reporting that many issues, I was jsuit surprised that I saw noting come back. Usually, I get requests for this or that information or tests.
Will 4.14 support Wayland?

Will 4.14 support Wayland?
From what I've heard and read, no. Here is a mailing list question. Olivier is the xfwm4 developer.

If you want 4.12 in Fedora stick with F28. Hopefully 4.14 will be out before F30 is released.

Well, gee, those bug reports aren't even three years old yet. Got to give 'em at least a little time, lol. Someone (ToZ, maybe?) mentioned a couple of bug reports in a thread recently and I looked at one of them out of curiosity. Status: New. Priority: Very High. Status: Critical. Date: 2013-08-12.

Assuming they get around to that one later today, yours ought to be tended to sometime in 2023 .
Seriously, though: By all accounts, the Xfce development team is pretty small (and, of course, unpaid). Therefore, it would be reasonable to expect the rate of progress to be somewhat slower than that of a Microsoft OS or even another volunteer effort which happens to have more people actively contributing. That might be-- okay, is annoying from time to time, but they are working. I wish they'd worry about fixing existing bugs before bothering to (potentially) introduce new ones. But that's just a general statement; things work well enough for me.
Take a look at:
https://git.xfce.org/
Sure, that webpage shows that some things haven't been worked on in over a year - but other things have had activity within several days, even hours. "Volunteer effort" often means that people work on what they want, when they want (and/or "...what they can, when they can"). But there is work being done.
Regards,
MDM
