I am running Xubuntu 18.04.1 LTS. Ever since upgrading to this version I have a sporadic issue where I am being logged out for no reason. I have looked in .xsession-errors and /var/log/Xorg.0.log but these log files 'seem' to be for the current session only.
My google searching has been unsuccessful and I was wondering if anyone had advice on where to look or some good links for diagnosing issues with Xfce (or at least identifying if the issue is even with Xfce).

Hello and welcome.
Look at the backup of the xsession log file ".xsession-errors.old". If its just a log out and not a reboot, anything relevant would still be in "Xorg.0.log". If you reboot, then look in the backup of that log file "Xorg.0.log.old".
You might also want to review your journal log via "journalctl" or from the last boot "journalctl -b 1".

When I look through Xorg.0.log.old (I rebooted after I got logged off) I don't see anything marked with (EE) or anything that looks important with (WW). As a desperation step I have removed one of my monitors to try and simplify the problem.

Can you post the contents of ~/.xsession-errors.old after a crash and logout?

Sure can, I used to run dual monitors and tried to simplify things so I removed one. I have not had a logout is 2 days now. I will post the requested file on my next involuntary logout.

It seems that the dual monitors was causing the involuntary logout. It has been almost two weeks with no issues.
