How can i change the mapping of the Backspace key from Ctrl-H to DEL?

under Unity, when editing with emacs, i can press Ctrl-H and get the Help screen or press Backspace and see the cursor move to the left as the character it moves to is deleted.  the is the correct behavior.

under Xfce, both Ctrl-H and Backspace bring in the Help screen.  apparently under Xfce the Backspace is mapped to send Ctrl-H.  how can i change this to have it send DEL?

Assuming xfce4-terminal, then Preferences > Compatibility (https://docs.xfce.org/apps/terminal/preferences)
