Building Xfce from source

i'm curious how many people here are running Xfce that they built from source.  then, if non-zero, i am curious how many of them, if any, have modified or patched that source, even if they didn't code it, not counting developers.

i'm also curious if the build or makefile setup in the source can, in one "make", build all the separate components that normally end up in separate packages.

and, i am curious what component classes (the component types that might have many instances of them, such as panel plugins) could be (theoretically) implemented in Python (version 3.X).  i suspect anything made into an executable (as opposed to a library) could, unless it needs libraries with no available Python API/SDK.
