Canonical list of categories to use in a desktop file

Does anyone know where I can find the canonical list of categories used in *.desktop files?  I posted this question on Stack Exchange, which includes my attempt to generate one.

Re: Canonical list of categories to use in a desktop file

garcon follows the freedesktop spec so the answer you received at StackExchange was most accurate. There are some Xfce-specifc categories (the All start with X-XFCE or X-Xfce) and they are specific to Xfce implementations. For example:

- X-Xfce-TopLevel -> for adding items to the top of the menu before the category list
- X-XFCE-SettingsDialog & X-XFCE-PersonalSettings & Others - for placement in the Settings Manager.

I didn't see the answer posted on Stack Exchange until I read your response.  Looks like what I was searching for.  Thanks for the reply!
