Debian "Testing" w/Xfce 4.12, 64-bit, 8GB RAM.
When I leave my computer for a bit, the screen blanks, and xscreensaver comes on (as normal). When I wiggle the mouse or press a key, the lightdm greeter shows up, I enter my username and password, and it shows xscreensaver is running. Mouse or key again, and xscreensaver goes away and any windows I had up are still up (as normal). At that point, I can't type anything into a window; like entering a URL into the browser, or commands into a terminal, but the mouse pointer still works. I have to minimize the window and restore it before I can type into it. I can't force it to happen by running xscreensaver-demo, or if I trigger xflock4 or do "light-locker-command -al"
Any idea what is going on?
