is there a BBCode for fixed font?

i'd like to switch to a fixed font, such as Courier, for file paths and program names embedded in text i post here.  is there an easy way to do that?

Web-searching that exact question ("is there a BBCode for fixed font?") will show you the range of possibilities.

MX-23 (based on Debian Stable) with our flagship Xfce 4.18.

so let's see if this makes the path /home/skaperen/ideas/spot_requests.txt work.  no, it does not.  and i don't want a code box (one of the google results suggested that).  there are many suggestions.  but what actually works here?

Click on the BBCode link underneath the reply box on this page. It will show you all of the bbcode options available including [ c o d e ] [ / c o d e ] (no spaces) that allows you to do that.
