Hello all!
I'm slowly (but steadily) migrating from macOS to xfce.
The one thing i really miss in thunar so far, is the ability to extract any archive by doubleclick.
Can this be configured? Like a default action system wide?
So that i can for example:
> download a zip in Firefox,
> click on the download icon in FF
> click on the archive
> thunar opens and extracts the contents.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello and welcome.
Which distro, version of Xfce and specifically version of thunar are you using?
What archive manager do you have installed?
You should be able to double-click an archive in thunar and it should open in your archive manager. If you have the thunar-archive-plugin installed, you will have the option to "Extract here" if you right-click on the archive.

I'm using xubuntu 19.04 and whatever version of thunar theiy are shipping.
I know all the options to extract archives, but thought i could configure the system a bit more to my linking.
Since i hardly ever want to know whats inside the archive bevor extracting it, i would like to have thunar extract it as default.
I also use the right-click > extract here way of doing this a lot. It would be convenient to just double-click and be done with it.

Isn't this a bit risky? Extracting archives without looking at the contents first?
I'm not sure this is easily done. You'd need to be able to get the current thunar working directory of the instance that you click from, you'll need to know which file was clicked so that can identify the type of archive, you'd need to create a script to manage the multitude of options...
The right-click > extract functionality is already pre-built. Let me see if I can come up with something or at least determine if its possible.

Right click the archive > Open With
The command depends on the archiver.
Xarchiver can also extract without asking but I wouldn't want that to happen.
Do you want to exit the Circus?
