Dear all,
I wonder if anyone can help me with the error messages I get when I open root thunar both through the terminal and through using "pkexec thunar %f" as a custom action. Thunar does work, but I get these error messages:
export: Thunar: Failed to initialize Xfconf: Using X11 for dbus-daemon autolaunch was disabled at compile time, set your DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS instead
(thunar:7291): thunar-WARNING **: 11:34:05.732: Name 'org.xfce.FileManager' lost on the message dbus.
(thunar:7291): thunar-WARNING **: 11:34:05.732: Name 'org.freedesktop.FileManager1' lost on the message dbus.
ThunarThumbnailer: failed to create proxy: Error spawning command line “dbus-launch --autolaunch=451b18d548814f329342a65704bc520d --binary-syntax --close-stderr”: Child process exited with code 1
Thank you for your help.

There was a bug report about this recently and fixed in a recent version of thunar. Which version are you running? I'll see if I can locate the bug report.
Edit: Here is the original bug report and a follow-up bug report that fine-tuned the solution. Looks like they were released in 1.8.3 and 1.8.5 respectively.

Thank you for the prompt response - I'm using thunar 1.8.6.

My bad, I misread your first message.
Thunar does work
Those are just warning messages that thunar can't connect to your profile's xfconfd service or DBUS_SESSION when run as root, which makes sense. They are not available to the root user. They are just warnings, you can ignore them. The bug reports I listed fixed an issue where thunar wouldn't even start.

Great. Thank you very much for your help. How do I mark the thread as solved?
