Where is Color Profiles?

I give up. There's a great Help file but where is the app itself? We have 4.14 Final running, but it does not show up in Settings.

Color my profile...confused.

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

Jerry, have you installed "xiccd?"
https://github.com/agalakhov/xiccd

According to the Help page, it works with your color settings that come with your distro:

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

I can find it in Settings > Hardware > Color Profiles, in Ubuntu 18.04 with the Xubuntu-dev staging PPA.

It comes with the updated xfce4-settings package and the binary is /usr/bin/xfce4-color-settings.

Thanks, but the problem is not the helper app but the colors app itself.

. Thanks--we are apparently missing a package then.

EDIT: hmmm, don't see it on that page.

EDIT2: also don't see it in the Xfce GIT repo

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

OK, we backported xfce4-settings from Debian Sid. It contains the missing package and now we have it in Settings. Not sure what happened there, but glad to see it fixed--that's what betas are good for!

It's not a separate package, it's a binary provided with xfce4-settings. See how it shows in Synaptic: Color profiles in Xfce Settings

On preview: I see you've fixed it already, great!

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

Actually it seems to need gnome-color-manager:

https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-setting … af5d43951f

Edit: and maybe it even needs to have some build option, because I have xfce4-settings 4.14.1 (the brand new version) here in Fedora 30 and I get this:

$ rpm -ql xfce4-settings|grep bin
/usr/bin/xfce4-accessibility-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-appearance-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-display-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-find-cursor
/usr/bin/xfce4-keyboard-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-mime-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-mouse-settings
/usr/bin/xfce4-settings-editor
/usr/bin/xfce4-settings-manager
/usr/bin/xfsettingsd

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

I'm thinking it's colord as a build dependency: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-setting … 3951f#n161.

Does anyone have a build log available for where the color settings app is not being built?

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

Simon's answer in the Fedora xfce mailing list¹:

Hi,

yes, colord support needs to be enabled at build time.

No, you don't need gnome-color-manager for that (show-up in the GUI), you need something like
xiccd for monitor profiles, saned for scanners and cupsd for printers.
g-c-m is merely suggested for showing additional profile information
(gcm-viewer) and for an optional calibrate button in the UI (gcm-calibrate).

Cheers
Simon

Re: Where is Color Profiles?

Just to confirm.

checking for optional package colord >= 1.0.2... not found

...and:

* colord support:            no
