I have recently installed fedora with xfce and I am doing all kinds of adjustments at the moment. I noticed that xfce-screenshooter always takes the screenshot of the full desktop without icons, actually there is only the background desktop picture in the resulting screenshot. It doesn't matter if I use xfce4-screenshooter -f or xfce4-screenshooter -cr or what ever command. I tried to reinstall xfce-screenshooter with sudo dnf reinstall xfce4-screenshooter , it did not help. The actual version is 1.9.6. Everything worked fine on another computer on debian with xfce. Does someone know what the reason might be and how to solve it? Thanks a lot.

I'm using F30 with screenshooter 1.9.6-1.fc30 and it's working fine, including a few options I tried from the command line and also launched from the run dialog.

Xfce is a bit messy with its session as it leaves many processes running.
So if you tweak it and logout, before logging back in you must ctrl+alt+f2, then login as root and
killall -u user
where 'user' is your username.
Edit. also re-installing won't make a difference as it's working fine. The issue may be with your settings.
See if there's anything in ~/.config/xfce4/ re. screenshooter and delete that.
Edit2. but it could be something wonky with the session and the screenshooter just doesn't know what to grab.

Sorry for the spam... just for information, updated live spins of Fedora can be found at https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/

Thanks for your tipps, I tried it, it did not work. Then I installed Scrot, another screenshooter, and the problem persists, so i suppose the problem is somewhere else than xfce4-screenshooter.
