I am a 45 year old guy living near Salzburg in the middle of Austria and I have been using Linux since 2006.
I like cats, coffee and novels. I used to be a web designer and make a living as a copywriter now.
Wen Ubuntu switched to Gnome 3, I discovered Xfce. It is my favorite desktop now, because I can customize it just the way I want it without much hassle. Mate is a close second. KDE is a good idea in theory and Gnome 3 is very alien to me.
Take a look at the current desktop on my Debian machine: https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=54535#p54535

Hi Fritz74,
Nice desktop indeed !
By the way, Salzburg is the city of my great idol composer Wolfgang Mozart. I'd like to go there one day.
Best regards.

Fritz, great desktop.
Many Gnome3 refugees around.

Your desktop preferences mirror mine. Gnome keeps isolating 'users' with every new release. I have been a very happy camper with xfce for a good 10+ years with no intention to migrate in the next 10 years.

Thanks, corstar! I feel the same way about Gnome.
