i have a user named "admin". it is one of the few users with sudo privileges. when i boot up i login to "admin" and run "setup" which sets up many thins and starts tunnels, users, and so forth. it is under this user that leave a terminal up that is on root. that's where i run backups, and do various maintenance.
for things that require the user be logged out, it have a 2nd admin user named "admini". it also has the sudo privileges. but "admini" does not participate in the settings sharing. but it can be root and do everything root can.
so i can change thesr files with all the affected users logged out.
