How to export/import all the settings for a new installation?

Hi,

I really like XFCE and use it over many years on Xubuntu Linux!

I have to set up Xubuntu on a new PC and I want to avoid making all the settings in XFCE too - there are many program starter in more then one panel... I would like to save/export all the settings from my XFCE (Vers. 4.12.0) and import them after installation of Xubuntu on the new PC.

  • Is that possible?

  • How to do that?

  • Have I to care the new Version 4.14, which I assume comes with the actual Xubuntu (I will wait for Xubuntu 20.04)?

Thanks for any help!

Ulrich

Hello and welcome.

If it is just for the panel settings, you can use xfce4-panel-profiles (used to be called xfpanel-switch). This allows you to back up and restore your panel settings.

If you are asking about other Xfce settings as well, have a read through this post.
